My Journey into EDM: How I Fell in Love with Electronic Dance Music
Hey everyone – Martin Mix here! Today I want to take you behind the scenes and tell you how I became the artist I am. This is the story of how a kid with a guitar and a dream discovered the world of EDM – and never looked back.

From Guitars to Glow Sticks: The Early Days
Music has always been my thing. I started playing piano and guitar around age 13, spending hours jamming with friends, writing songs, and messing around in school bands. Back then, I was all about Red Hot Chili Peppers, funky riffs, and that classic rock-band energy.
But behind the scenes, something else was brewing. I found myself playing around with early versions of music software, trying to make weird beats and synth lines. I didn’t know it then, but that was the spark that would eventually light the fire.
The real shift came in 2015. I heard a track by a German electronic producer that completely stopped me in my tracks. Suddenly I was hooked – wondering “How did he even create that on a laptop?” That curiosity sent me down the EDM rabbit hole, watching YouTube tutorials late into the night, especially Laidback Luke’s videos. It didn’t take long until my guitar amp was replaced by a DAW and a pair of headphones.
Discovering the EDM Greats
That was when I started diving deep into the world of EDM. I listened to everything – from underground melodic house to mainstage anthems. But it was Avicii who changed everything for me. His music had heart. “Levels” wasn’t just a banger – it was emotional. It made me realize that dance music could hit you in the soul, not just make you move.
At the same time, watching someone like Zedd break through as a fellow German producer gave me hope. Seeing him go global showed me that the dream wasn’t out of reach. That realization flipped a switch.
Festivals, Studio Nights & That First Gig
I still remember watching Tomorrowland live streams like they were movies. The lights, the energy, the connection between DJ and crowd – it was magic. Then came my first real-life festival experience, and it sealed the deal. Feeling the bass in my chest and the unity of thousands dancing together… I knew this was it.
And I wanted in.
While studying at university, I started producing wherever I could – hotel rooms, campus lounges, my bedroom at 2 AM. That’s the beauty of EDM: you don’t need a fancy studio. You need creativity, drive, and a laptop.
Eventually, after countless hours of making beats and crafting remixes, I played my first DJ gig at a local club. I was nervous. But when I saw people closing their eyes and feeling my set, it hit me hard. This wasn’t just a hobby anymore. It was my calling.
Shaping My Sound
Over the years, I found my groove in melodic house and dance-pop. Think feel-good drops, catchy vocals, summer night vibes. Artists like Robin Schulz and Sam Feldt had a huge influence on me – they showed that EDM can be uplifting, emotional, and groovy all at once.
That’s exactly what I aim to create: tracks that feel like memories, not just music. Songs you can dance to and connect with.
Where I’m Headed
Fast forward to today – I’m proud to release tracks that represent who I am. I’ve had the honor of playing on stage, being featured on big platforms, and connecting with fans who truly feel my music. But I’m still the same guy who stayed up all night learning to EQ a kick drum.
This journey has taught me that passion wins. If you love what you do and stay curious, you’ll find your path – no matter how unconventional it seems.
Thanks for reading my story. If you’re an aspiring DJ or producer, I hope this gives you the push to keep going. And if you just love dance music like I do, then welcome – we’re already family.
